Charity News

Willow Dog Rescue is Closing!

Since our first dog rescue back in 2010, we have dedicated the last 12 years to saving strays from the local pounds. We are extremely proud of our achievements, and have loved every dog that's passed through our doors, it's been a privilege to have been a part of their journey, to have loved and cared for them, and to see them happy in their new homes.

But we could not have done it without the support of the fab kennel staff at BARC, our wonderful charity shop volunteers, our fosterers, our fundraisers, and anyone that has supported us in any way over the years. We would especially like to thank everyone who has adopted one (or more!) of our Willow dogs - for choosing to rescue and giving these precious dogs a second chance of a forever home. We are so grateful to you all for loving our dogs like we do.

We would also like to thank our families who have supported our passion for rescue - this has often meant foster dogs in our homes destroying things, cancelled plans due to rescue commitments, all pulling together and chipping in to see that a dogs needs are met... we couldn't have done it without your help.

We will look back with pride at what Willow has accomplished over the years - run by four of us around fulltime jobs and family commitments. Its been a rollercoaster of emotions, we have laughed and cried, seen the worst of things but also the best happy endings. We have wonderful memories which we will cherish forever, we have made friends for life, and wouldn't change a second of it. Although we are sad that it is the end of an era for us, we will remember every dog (and cat!) and remind ourselves that we did our bit.

Please continue to support your local dog rescue charities. Royston Animal Welfare will be taking over our charity shop soon, it would be great if you all could remember them when you are having a clear out and donate so generously as you did to us. It is a tough time in the rescue world at the moment, so many dogs need saving, please now lend your support to other animal charities the way you have supported us. We can all still help.

Thank you.

Julie, Sarah, Karlie and Nicola.

Covid-19

Our Current Procedures

Here at Willow, we are following Government advice regarding the current Coronavirus situation.

Rehoming

The kennels are closed to the public.  If you would like to meet any of the dogs we have available for adoption, please complete the adoption form on our 'Dogs Needing Homes' page and we will be in touch to arrange an appointment if you're a suitable match.

Shop

Our little charity shop is now open.  We continue to have social restrictions and safety measures in place to keep everyone safe.  We also ask that customers continue to wear a mask if they can to help keep our volunteers safe.

Donations for the chartiy shop, such as bric-a-brac etc can now accepted on THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS.  This is because we must continue to stored donations for 48 hours before our volunteers are allowed to sort through them.  This restriction is to ensure that all donations are stored correctly and for the right amount of time.  Donations for the kennels can be accepted any day of the week as these do not require sorting.

We ask that you please do not leave any items for donation outside our charity shop or donate on any any other day of the week as we are unable to accept them.  Items that are left outside the shop will need to go into the bin, which then ultimately costs us money as we are charged by weight.

We also ask that if you are displaying any symptoms, then you stay at home and do not come to the shop.

We hope everyone continues to stay well and remember to follow Government guidelines.

We Have Moved

As of 1st September 2020 our kennels are now located at Rainbow Hill Kennels, Woodhead Rd, Wortley, Sheffield S35 7DA. The kennels are closed to the public and viewing dogs is strictly by appointment only.
